Brunch Like a Boss | July Event Recap 2021

The female founders of the Gold Coast region came together on the 20th of July to meet for another aspiring Brunch Like A Boss held by the Gold Coast Innovation Hub. Although the air was fresh and a slight breeze was blowing, we were still joined by 32 happy and bubbly women who braved this cold winters morning to share their business ventures, successes and hot tips and tricks.

Our July Brunch Like A Boss was held at the beautiful venue at Greendays, which is a little oasis café nestled in the heart of Bundall, where guests were welcomed in with a delectable glass of French bubbles –  because a brunch wouldn’t be a brunch without some brunch bubbles!

For our start-up founder story, we were joined by award winning accountant Phoebe Dray, who is the founder of Profit 2 Cash Consultancy.

Phoebe Dray is an award winning accountant who is  passionate, fun and driven to help you succeed in business by far more than crunching numbers. In fact, Phoebe is a business finance success coach with solid experience in running businesses, management accounting, and cashflow improvement strategies. Phoebe understands the strategies needed to make a business successful and is focused on sharing this knowledge in a simple, easy to understand way so you can implement what you learn and create the success you dream of.

Phoebe was able to share with us three important tips that she believes can help steer you and your up-and-coming business into the right direction:

  1. Step out of your comfort zone and create the business of your dreams
  2. Surround yourself with like minded business people
  3. The winners are the dreamers that never gave up, so become that dreamer today.

If you would like to get in contact with Phoebe in regards to consulting your business finances,   you can find her via her website, Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram handles.

Following Phoebe Dray, we welcomed our special guest speaker Monica Bradley  to the stage to share her wisdom  about the business world, especially how it has been for her to be a high regarded woman in business.

Monica is a sort after company director with sustainability, technology, and investment experiences. She has an incredible portfolio  where she has occupied  positions within boards, advisories, advocacies and venture capital investment panels.

Her expertise has accumulated over decades of working across multiple continents with foundations in the industrial sectors of trade and logistics. Monica then continued into another decade in providing professional services, predominantly in government reform and most recently in technology, to help steer businesses in the right direction to make investments that impact and to gain early-stage business capital. The cornerstone of Monica’s executive career was her ability to deliver revenue growth, new business formation and digital transformation in challenging and uncertain environments. Monica  has held leadership, sales, operations, and strategic roles in New York, Abu Dhabi, Sydney, Perth, Canberra, and Brisbane. Monica is on the board of Enova Energy, Container Exchange and QUT and a member of Advance QLD Expert Panel and QBDF Venture Capital fund investment panel.

Monica shared her life learnings from a corporate career point of view, which she spanned across New York, Abu Dhabi, Canberra and Sydney before returning to her beloved home-town of Queensland.

Impact & is Monica’s mantra. She has dedicated her talents and energy into supporting founders, ventures and investors who apply technology, capital and new business models to create a zero carbon, inclusive sustainable future.

Impact & speaks to Monica’s audacious mission to apply impact capital to solve the World’s To Do List.

Monica finished up with some great advice for people who are deciding to start-out in the business world:

“Its not how smart you are, it’s the quality of the people you know in the industry.”

“Its not the importance of the cheque, its what you bring to the business to help promote that change.”

~ Monica Bradley
