Startup Onramp is a training and mentoring program for first-time startup founders, launched in Brisbane by experienced startup mentor and investor Colin Kinner. It gives new and aspiring entrepreneurs the skills and guidance they need to launch a globally scalable startup. Colin defines the program’s core mission as helping people make the transition from employee to entrepreneur, and to give them a solid grounding in how to start a successful tech company. Recognising that potential Gold Coast founders would hugely benefit from learnings and support like this the Gold Coast Innovation Hub has brought Stratup Onramp to the Gold Coast.
Each week our participants have been diving deep in the startup world learning everything from basics of what a startup is to legals and capital raising.
Our cohort have had an incredible opportunity to learn from the Gold Coast leading innovators who have presented as guest speakers and gave us their vision of each topic and how they have applied it in their successful startups.
Danny Maher the Chairman of Opmantek and the Gold Coast Innovation Hub shared his insights on the commersialisation of innovation and his view on evolution of the business consisting of 5 parts: The Dreaming, Existing, Validation of your existence, Living, Mastery and Re-invention.
Sharon Hunneybell, the CEO of the Gold Coast Innovation Hub, has taken us through on her understanding on what differentiates a successful startup from a failure.
For the week of value proposition and branding Vincent Fletcher, the CEO of CartonCloud, has taken us through his entrepreneurship story.

For the weeks of customer validation we had Meryl Johnson from Bean Ninjas sharing her journey and Ian Sampson from BragTag shared how his 17-year old son came up with a startup idea that stemmed from his passion for fishing and how it then took them to Hong Kong.
We also went through PR with Sean Braybrook from Business Leaders and legals with Fred Darby from McLaughlins Lawyers.
Two of our lovely participants Amelia Quinlan and Sarah Berry also had the opportunity to pitch their businesses – an employment platform, HR Base, and the travel app, Pulse, in front of investors for the Women In Tech Festival Pitch Night hosted at the Gold Coast Innovation Hub.
