A huge congratulations to team ‘Jupiter 305’ who took out the annual Opmantek Prize for Industry projects at Griffith University on Monday night with their Edtech VR solution designed to teach 7th grade Science students about moon phases and tidal patterns.
It was a tough decision for the judging panel with the 3 finalist solutions showcasing skills in Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Geo Spatial Analysis and Mobile Device Management.
The judging panel included Professor Paulo de Souza (Head of School, Griffith School of ICT), Danny Maher (Founder, President and Chairman, Opmantek), Sharon Hunneybell – Chief Executive Officer, Gold Coast Innovation Hub and Joshua Smith (Teacher at Hillcrest Secondary, founder of Curiosity Caves).
Danny and Opmantek have been involved in this event for many years and are a valued partner of Griffith School of ICT. Danny and Sharon are both passionate about connecting Griffith ICT students with local start-up companies. Several previous finalists of these awards are now working hard within Opmantek and the Gold Coast Innovation Hub.
Industry projects are a critical part of the final year of study these students, giving them real world experience working with a commercial client to deliver a technology solution over the course of a trimester and the Gold Coast Innovation Hub are proud to support this initiative.
