Brunch Like a Boss – April Event Recap

Female founders of the Gold Coast region came together on Tuesday 12th April for another inspiring Brunch Like A Boss held by the Gold Coast Innovation Hub. The sellout event saw 50 bright and bubbly women who came along to network, share their business ventures, and listen to our two fascinating speakers.

The April Brunch Like A Boss was held at the Henchman in Miami, and as always they provided an amazing variety of breakfast treats and drinks for our attendees to enjoy. We exchanged stories and business successes with each other before heading into a quick creative dance workshop with the talented Rebecca Wang, founder of Apsaras Art Solutions. Rebecca got us all standing up with our shoes off, having a dance to elevate us before we sat down for some food and the speeches.

Next to take the stage were our inspiring keynote speakers Lee-Ann Nordin from Furtastic Friends by Bochetta Plush Toys and Yasmin Grigaliunas from World’s Biggest Garage Sale

Lee-Ann shared her experiences living and running a business in a tiny village in Botswana and how she came to discover a passion for dance and movement as she navigated the challenges of supporting staff and a community in remote South Africa. This inspiring story lead us through many of Lee-Ann’s ups and downs, both financially and personally, as she was becoming the woman she is today. Lee-Ann is now working to help others in need, as she sells her luxury plush toys to aged care homes and patients suffering from dementia and other diseases which does not allow them to hold on to their beloved pets anymore. Her company strives to be a responsible business that meets the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. They work actively to operate in a manner that promotes human rights, helps communities, and protects our natural environment. If you would like to contact Lee-Ann you can find her via her websiteFacebook or email.

Yasmin from World’s Biggest Garage Sale shared her story of how she went from a small charity event to a successful business that is booming. Her down to earth speech encouraged everyone to embrace and learn from ‘the shitty and the unpretty’ moments that life delivers. Yasmin shared her personal journey over the last few years and how it has helped her develop herself and her business further.

We thank theses amazing ladies for being brave, vulnerable, and authentic in the sharing of their stories with the group so that we can all connect, learn and grow from each other’s experiences.
