Start your startup right with Startup Onramp

We don’t know what we don’t know.

The startup journey is full of pitfalls.
The startup journey is fast moving.
While many prescribe to the ‘Move fast and break things’ mantra, small mistakes can cost you a lot in the future.

Startup onramp is a 12-week program designed by experienced entrepreneurs that will guide you through ‘what we should have done’ when starting a business.

The program comprises 12 weekly workshops following a logical progression from idea validation to product development, customer acquisition, investment and growth.

The workshops will be delivered by experienced program facilitators and supported by guest presenters from the local region (including entrepreneurs, investors and subject matter experts) who also assist with mentoring of the teams.
The program culminates in a pitch night at the end of the program at which all startups present.
It is expected that at the end of the program founders will:

*have defined their market offering;
*have validated their ideas with the market and experts;
*improve their start-up skills and understanding of the startup landscape;
*develop a viable business model with revenue streams;
*be able to pitch to gain co-founders, investors or enter an accelerator program.

Ideal for sole founders or for new teams the program translates the jargon and unlocks the mystery around investment (Term Sheets, Vesting Deeds, Share allocations, Cap Tables), customer validation (Lean canvas, validation board) and provides practical advice around product development, investor pitching, branding PR and Legal.

Founders and teams attend a 2-hour evening session and a 30-minute one-on-one mentoring session per week, get loads of useful resources and build connections to some incredible local business legends who will be dropping in as guest presenters.

Throughout the program there will be helpful tips to help you get your pitch right and your pitch deck ready for the exclusive final pitch night attended by the Gold Coast Innovation Hub community of businesses and investors.

Minister for Innovation Kate Jones said that the Startup Onramp Regional Queensland Program would give innovators across regional Queenslanders the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and connections they need to grow their tech startups. Startup Onramp was launched in Brisbane by experienced startup mentor and investor Colin Kinner. Colin defines the program’s core mission as helping people make the transition from employee to entrepreneur, and to give them a solid grounding in how to start a successful tech company.

The Startup Onramp program is proudly supported by Advance Queensland and is being delivered in 8  Queensland regions – Mackay, Townsville, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Rockhampton and Bundaberg.
